The Klang Valley MRT project is the construction of a rail-based public transport network for the greater Klang Valley. The first MRT line to be implemented is the 51km Sungai Buloh-Kajang line. The line will run underground for a distance of 9.5km beneath the centre of Kuala Lumpur while the rest of the alignment is elevated. The line will have 31 stations of which 24 will be elevated.

Part of the tender requirements was that the lights are to be manufactured by or partnered with shortlisted Malaysian manufacturers. AdvanLED is one of these companies recognised by MRT to be capable to supply the products for this project.

One of the challenges was to consolidate the ID design intent with the stringent safety requirements for a public transportation facilities.

Therefore, constant modifications and coordination were required between AdvanLED & the architects. Finally, the products were delivered and hand over to site in the end of December 2015.

In alignment with their commitment to embracing cutting-edge technologies, higher learning institutions consistently champion innovative solutions. Demonstrating unwavering support, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTEM) has undertaken a green technology initiative. Specifically, they have opted for the adoption of LED lighting in the hall adjacent to the meeting room.

In this eco-conscious move, traditional 2-feet fluorescent tubes were systematically replaced with their LED counterparts, ensuring that equivalent lux levels were maintained. This strategic transition not only aligns with the institution’s dedication to sustainability but also enhances energy efficiency. Notably, the commitment to modernization extends to the food display area, where additional units of LED T5 lighting have been incorporated. UTEM’s embrace of LED technology not only underscores their progressive approach but also sets a noteworthy example for the integration of environmentally friendly solutions in educational environments, illuminating the way forward for sustainable practices in academic settings.

Bursa Malaysia is located at Bukit Kewangan, Kuala Lumpur. The total area square meter is 71,347. The building is made of 16 stories and 5-level basement car park and a lower level car park. The management team planned to apply energy saving methods in their car park, lobby and corridors. Besides that, the team desire to save energy and reduce opex. One of the initiatives was to switch to LED technology.

The client wished to improve on the lighting products used in several aspects, such as the lifetime and reliability of energy consumption. In 2012, the T8 36w fluorescent light were replaced with T8 LED 18w eco tubes. The warranty was for 3 years. In 2016, the 2xPLC 18w down lights in the lobby was replaced with 20w DLMA and the 150W metal halide downlights in the double volume 1st floor was replaced with 40W LED downlights. In the meantime, the LED tube from 2012 was still functioning without failure. In 2017, the 1x14w down lights were replaced with 9w LED down lights. In all situations the lux level was higher than previous lighting even with the wattage reduction.

 In all this exercises, Bursa Malaysia experienced significant reduction in energy and maintenance cost.  We hope, for more successes and future collaborations with Bursa Malaysia.
