The setting of this project was a 230m by 60m golf driving range. The lighting at that point of time used 24 units of 1000 watts metal halide on two 15 meter poles.
The conventional lighting faced constant maintenance issue due to the age of the lamp. Brightness was failing and the users were complaining. Furthermore the cost of replacements and maintenance was relatively high due to the need of sky lift to access the lights. The general requirement of golf driving ranges are 40 lux reflection on the ball on a vertical plane of axis and good surge protection.
The solution was 24 units of 400 watts Advanled Hi-Mast lighting at a narrow beam with the most suitable layout and tilt to allow for even lighting and negligible wastage of light on the vertical plane of at least 20 meters.
Double surge protection was applied on the lamp and the pole. Simulations was done on the spot with the client so that a decision could be made immediately and so that products are manufactured as soon as possible to resume normal operations.
The result was easily recognised by owners and the users as a marked improvement on the lighting performance. Expected ROI from savings and usage was 1.5 years. Expected lifetime based on usage is 15 years.

LED LIGHTING @ SOGO SHOPPING MALL, KL
Date: 2014 – Present Categories: LED Lighting
The client for this project is a major shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur city. The building is made of 9 stories of selling space and 3 stories of underground car park. Several initiatives were made by their management team to apply energy-saving and Eco-friendly methods to their operations. One of them being lighting enhancements.
The challenge in this project was that the client planned to renovate their building, and in turn the lighting, floor by floor annually. However, LED technology at that time was highly volatile with efficiency and costing upgrades every 6 months which will lead to difficulty maintaining the outlook and consistency of the product from the first floor to the last.
Secondly, a very short time is provided for the design confirmation to delivery stage with limited storage space, which leads to very short lead time and staggered delivery schedule. Furthermore, the lighting requirements which was based on an interior designer from the USA, was not readily available in the market at that time. Therefore, the supplier had to be preferably local, with a high understanding of the changes of LED products, long term reliability, specialisation in customisation and an ability to supply products that would last until the final renovation and beyond.
The solution provided by AdvanLED was to design a product with a fixed outlook whereby the components that upgrades or changes over time ie: the LED chips and the Driver, is easily integrated into the fixed casing. The term used for this capability is Future Proof. The product enjoys the consistency in terms of outlook and output in brightness while allowing the client to enjoy the latest efficiency and pricing. This lead to the creation of the DLM downlight (link to the product)
Since 2012, Sogo have changed 7 stories of selling space, and have relied on AdvanLED products to ease their maintenance, design and delivery concerns. AdvanLED has enjoyed a healthy relationship as a designer, supplier and consultant with after services such as lux maintenance review exercises and miscellaneous product support.

LED HIGH BAY LIGHTING @ PARKSIDE FLEXIBLES SELANGOR
A complete LED high bay lighting project.
Parkside Flexibles is a major player in food industry packaging. Keeping in line with their belief in using the latest technology in their packaging systems, they planned a full scale renovation and upgrading works in 2017 for their recently acquired factory in Shah Alam. After searching extensively for the best local partner, AdvanLED answered the call to audit and work with Parkside to come out with a complete LED high bay lighting design.
The original lighting was a old 55 pcs 250W Metal halide high bays at less than ideal positions and height. Lighting layouts were unsuitable with obstruction and misalignment with current operations and warehousing systems and rackings. The 52 pieces ADVANLED LED HI BAY G2 used was the most cost efficient and value for money product to use at that time. Using the best 50,000 hour driver and the most cost effective LED configuration. Expected ROI was 6 months. The layout and positioning of the lights were adjusted for the most efficiency and uniformity
Our engineers worked on drafting current lighting plans, new lighting plans and layouts with the required lux levels. Post simulation results were sent to the client for approval and we started the manufacturing works. Installation was also done by us with our engineers coordinating with Parkside for the best installation times to keep factory disruptions to the minimum. We worked at nights and during the weekends for the most productive periods to complete the project in time and within the customer expectations. We also did a T&C and verified the lux values.
The result was easily recognised by owners and the users as a marked improvement on the lighting performance. Coordinating with their production schedule and reducing the impact on production as much as possible, the installation was done without complications for a highly satisfied client.
The Klang Valley MRT project is the construction of a rail-based public transport network for the greater Klang Valley. The first MRT line to be implemented is the 51km Sungai Buloh-Kajang line. The line will run underground for a distance of 9.5km beneath the centre of Kuala Lumpur while the rest of the alignment is elevated. The line will have 31 stations of which 7 will be underground.
For the underground stations, tender was released on 2015, seperated into 2 packages. On 1 April 2015, LED Vision and SENA JV received the award for both packages.
Job scope: Supply, delivery and supervision of installation, testing and commissioning of LED lighting for underground stations from KL Sentral to Bukit Bintang & from Pasar Rakyat to Maluri.
The 7 underground stations were categorised into the following table:
Package U1
Package U2
1. Pasar Seni
5. Tunku Razak Interchange (TRX)
2. Merdeka
6. Cochrane
3. Bukit Bintang
7. Maluri
4. Muzium Negara
Part of the tender requirements was that the lights are to be manufactured by or partnered with shortlisted Malaysian manufacturers. LED Vision Sdn Bhd is one of these companies recognised by MRT to be capable to supply the products for this project.
One of the challenges was to consolidate the ID design intent with the stringent safety requirements for a public transportation facilities.
Therefore, constant modifications and coordinations were required between LED Vision & architects.
LED FLOOD LIGHT @ COOLER WAREHOUSE PROJECT (H: 11M)
Date: 2014-12-16 Categories: LED Lighting
A critical component to food logistics and transportation is the ability to keep products under a certain temperature to maintain freshness and prevent growth of microbes. Cold storage warehouses, prevalent near ports, such as Port Klang and Tanjung Pelepas, and airports, are an integral part of this distribution system. These facilities are fully concealed and have no access to natural lighting. Therefore the reliance is on artificial lighting 100% of the time. Under subzero temperatures going into -24°C, conventional lighting lifetime is heavily compromised. Very quickly, the lighting output will dim down and lose its effectiveness. The heat generated by said lamps also contributes to the energy consumed in the air conditioning and is an unnecessary wastage of energy. Furthermore, lighting colour is important as the cooler coolers have a higher refraction value, combined with the cold, misty air, warmer colours is needed to increase visibility and to make lighting comfortable.
In this scenario, LED lighting is able to excel in performance, lifetime and reliability . The cold temperatures increases the lifetime of LED based products. The main concern, as for most electronic products in high condensation environments is water vapor appearing in the circuit boards. Our AdvanLED products are fully protected with IP 65 ingress protection and all our circuitry is protected by an anti vapor film thereby removing the fear of degradation due to vapor. Apart from the increase efficiency in energy for the lighting products themselves, the drop in air conditioning energy is also significant. In addition, we have customised cable and cable glands meant for subzero temperatures to prevent hardening. LED are also incredibly flexible with colour selection and warm colours are readily available. The following are all our products suitable for Cold Storage environments.
